Carnival 2027 in the Canary Islands: dates

In 2027 Shrove Tuesday falls on 9 February and Ash Wednesday on the 10th. In the Canaries each city sets its own calendar: this year the big parade in Santa Cruz de Tenerife comes two weeks later, on Tuesday 23 February.

These are the dates published for 2027 by the islands' main carnivals. We only list what town halls or the official tourism board have announced; if something has not been published yet, we say so.

Frequently asked questions

When is Carnival 2027?

Shrove Tuesday is 9 February 2027 and Ash Wednesday the 10th. In the Canaries, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife celebrate from 22 January to 28 February; the Santa Cruz grand parade (Coso) is on Tuesday 23 February.

Why is the Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival later in 2027?

The town hall moved the calendar back two weeks because the Recinto Ferial, where the stage is built, is in use by the Parque Infantil y Juvenil until 6 January. Hence the Queen gala on 17 February and the Coso on the 23rd.

Can I see several carnivals on one trip?

Yes, the dates are staggered: Los Indianos on La Palma on Monday 8 February, the Las Palmas Queen gala the same day, then the Santa Cruz de Tenerife gala (17 February) and Coso (23 February).
