Carnaval de Día is the daytime version of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife street carnival. It takes place in full daylight, usually starting around midday, after most of the major evening events have already been held during the main carnival week.
It is distinct from the Rua and the Gran Coso Apoteosis. The Rua is the big popular Mardi Gras parade in the evening, open to everyone. The Coso Apoteosis is the official competitive Saturday-night parade. Carnaval de Día, by contrast, takes place during the day, after the main week, with a more relaxed atmosphere and a more spread-out crowd.
It is also more accessible for visitors: fewer crowds at peak times, better visibility, and an atmosphere well suited to a daytime outing.
Two dates in 2027: 19 February and 28 February. These two daytime events are highlights in a calendar that also concentrates major evening parades.
The format is simple: arrive late morning, the first events start around midday, then the city centre gradually fills up. Expect several hours of continuous atmosphere, often through to late afternoon. The route stays centred on the heart of Santa Cruz — around Candelaria, Francisco La Roche and the pedestrianised centre. Aim for the central streets rather than the edges of the route, where the crowd density is higher.
