Los Gigantes takes its name from the volcanic cliffs that dominate it: 600 meters of black rock plunging vertically straight into the Atlantic. One of the most dramatic landscapes in the Canaries. The resort itself is calm and family-friendly, with a lively marina where whale and dolphin excursions depart — the best in Tenerife.
Good to know: Los Gigantes is the ideal base for exploring the west of the island. Masca (30 min), Garachico (45 min), Santiago del Teide (20 min) are all easily accessible.
Whale and dolphin excursion — The waters between Los Gigantes and La Gomera are a permanent habitat for sperm whales and dolphins. Departures 2x/day from the marina. Booking recommended. €35-45/person, 2h30.
Cliffs from the sea — Rent a kayak or take a boat excursion to see the cliffs from the water. The effect is 10x more impressive than by car.
Playa de los Guíos — Black pebble beach at the foot of the cliffs. Turquoise water, excellent snorkeling, not crowded. 10 min walk down from the marina.
Mirador de Archipenque — Viewpoint just above the port. View of the cliffs and, on clear days, La Gomera and El Hierro.
Marina restaurants — Fresh fish, views of the boats. Quality varies — avoid menus with laminated photos. Prefer those where the fishermen eat (north side of the port).
El Rincón de Juan Carlos ⭐⭐ — Fine dining restaurant run by two brothers, Michelin-starred. Booking several weeks in advance. €80-120/person.
