Every June 29th evening, Los Realejos fires the largest fireworks display in Spain from the cliffs above the Atlantic — on record nationally. The village sits between Puerto de la Cruz and Icod de los Vinos, terraced banana plantations and vineyards climbing toward Teide, with two historic cores — Realejos Alto and Realejos Bajo — linked by cobblestone streets.
Good to know: Authentic village, not very touristy. Perfect for escaping the coastal crowds. 15 minutes from Puerto de la Cruz.
Charco del Viento — Natural pool nestled in volcanic rocks, clear and protected seawater. Perfect for families. Changing rooms, showers, bar nearby. Free.
San Marcos Church (Realejos Alto) — 17th-century Baroque church with a remarkable gilded altarpiece. One of the finest colonial churches in the north. Free entry.
San Juan Night (June 24th) — If you're here at the end of June, don't miss the giant fireworks show for anything. The spectacle lasts over an hour from the cliffs above the sea — recognized multiple times by Guinness as one of Europe's largest. Best spots: from the coast below, from the nearby Garachico port, or from the cliffs if you know someone. Book your hotel months in advance.
Wine Trail — Walk through the vineyard terraces of Denominación de Origen Ycoden-Daute-Isora. Views of the sea and Teide, 2 hours round trip. Easy level.
Guachinche El Rincón — Traditional guachinche in a terraced farm. House wine from the region, Canarian tapas, goat in sauce. 8-12€/person. Open weekends only.
Bar La Candelaria — Local bar opposite the church. Coffee, tortilla pincho, 100% local atmosphere. Under 5€.
