Wedged between Garachico and Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos is one of those small towns the northwest coast strings along without ever pushing them into the spotlight. Its protected historic center, quiet lanes, and the Charco Los Chochos natural pool make it a peaceful rural stop, far from the bustle of the south — about 24 km² of municipality, mostly farming and homes.
The trick: Charco Los Chochos fills mostly in the afternoon depending on the tide. Check low tide if you want a calm swim.
The heart of Los Silos keeps religious and colonial architecture typical of towns founded in the 16th century on this coast. Just above, Monte del Agua protects a laurel forest that catches the trade-wind moisture — a sharp contrast with the dry south.
The Charco Los Chochos natural pool, shaped by lava and ocean, offers a sheltered swim without developed-beach infrastructure. Nearby, the Hornos de Cal, 19th-century lime kilns, mark an industry that has vanished — free to visit, no fixed hours.
