The Mirador de Masca overlooks the village of Masca and the Barranco de Masca — a breathtaking gorge that descends to the sea between 400-meter cliffs. It's one of the most impressive landscapes in the Canary Islands, often compared to an adventure film set.
The village of Masca itself is a hamlet of 100 inhabitants perched on a mountainside, with its traditional black stone houses, cobblestone streets, and bougainvillea flowers. An unmissable stop on the Teno route.
Arrive before 10am — the roads leading to Masca are winding and quickly become congested with tour buses. The hike down to Barranco beach (3-hour trek) is spectacular but physically demanding, and the return hike is prohibited — you must return by boat (water taxi from Masca beach). Book the boat in advance during peak season.
