The Reina Infantil Gala is the children's version of the grand Reina Gala — and it's just as breathtaking. Little girls parade in costumes just as elaborate as those of adults, crafted by the same artisans with the same care. Some families prepare their daughter from age 3 onwards: dance classes, rehearsals in the neighborhood, collective pride. This isn't about putting on a show for tourists — it's about passing the Carnival down from generation to generation.
It's one of the most touching moments of the entire season: the audience cries more easily than during the adult Gala, the applause is different — more tender. For a visitor, this is often the moment when you understand that Carnival here isn't just about celebration, it's a culture.
The hall is filled with emotionally invested local families — the atmosphere is warm and inclusive. Traveling children love this event: they understand the essence without needing Spanish. Plan to arrive a bit before the official start time — as often happens at Carnival, things can take a few minutes to get going.
Tips for coming with children:
- The hall is relaxed, with many families with strollers
- Sit near the side exits so you can leave quickly if a child gets overwhelmed
- Bring snacks and a small toy for young children — the speeches can be long
- After the gala, take a stroll down the avenue to see the lights: the crowds are less dense than on adult Gala nights
- Recinto Ferial, Santa Cruz de Tenerife
- Tickets: 5–20€
- Carnival start (often first week of January)
