Best time to visit Tenerife

Tenerife enjoys a mild climate all year round, but each month has its own advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the right time allows you to better control your budget, avoid crowds and fully enjoy the activities that interest you.

January-February: carnival and sweetness

Temperatures 17-21°C. Fewer people than in summer, attractive prices outside of carnival. Ideal for those who want to attend the carnival without the heat. The sea remains cool (18-19°C).

March-May: the favorite period of many French speakers

Temperatures 19-24°C, sea around 20°C. Fewer French tourists than in July-August. Perfect for families and hikers: long days, often clear skies.

June: calm transition

Rising temperatures (22-26°C). Before the long school holidays, prices remain reasonable. Good compromise for those who want sun without the maximum crowds.

July-August: high season

Temperatures 24-29°C. Warmest sea (22-24°C). Lots of people, high prices, especially the first half of August. Book everything well in advance.

September-October: our recommendation for most profiles

Temperatures 23-27°C, sea still warm (23°C). Attendance decreases after the start of the school year. Excellent value for money and ideal climate for combining beach and hiking.

November-December: calm and attractive prices

Temperatures 19-23°C. Few tourists, low prices. Be careful, however, of possible rain in the north. Ideal for an authentic and relaxing stay.

Which period should you choose according to your profile?

• Family with children (3-12 years old): March-May or September-October to avoid the heat and school crowds.
• Couple looking for calm: October or November.
• Hikers: March-May or October (pleasant temperatures, less wind).
• Tight budget: January (excluding carnival), November or early December.

The north and the south do not have the same climate at the same time. The south remains sunnier even when the north is overcast. The trick often used: consult the weather forecast by area the day before and cross the island via TF-1 if necessary.
