Icod de los Vinos owes its worldwide fame to a single tree: the Drago Milenario, the oldest and largest dragon tree in the world. Planted more than 1,000 years ago by the Guanches, this extraordinary tree with its aerial roots and blood-red sap is classified as a Natural Monument. The town itself is charming — terraced vineyards, colonial architecture, and a peaceful atmosphere, away from the mass tourism circuits.
Good to know: Combine Icod with Garachico (15 min) and Masca (30 min) for a full day in the northwest. The Drago can be visited in 30 min.
