Playa del Roque de las Bodegas

Roque de las Bodegas is an authentic cove in the Anaga massif, at the mouth of the Taganana ravine. Its 380-meter beach of black sand and pebbles stretches at the foot of cliffs covered with laurel and heather. The most accessible of Anaga's wild beaches: bus 946 from Santa Cruz serves Taganana in 55 minutes, and the beach is just a few steps from the village. However, currents are unpredictable and swimming is not recommended except in perfectly calm seas, as protruding rocks make entering the water tricky. The fresh fish restaurants lined along the seafront are the main attraction: grilled squid, old fish and limpets at honest prices, in the atmosphere of a fishing village frozen in time.
