Playa de Abama

Abama is a preserved cove on the west coast of Tenerife. Protected by two rocky promontories of volcanic lava and a breakwater, this horseshoe-shaped cove offers rare light golden sand on a coast dominated by volcanic black, along with particularly calm waters. Technically accessible to everyone (Spanish beaches are public), it is nestled within the Ritz-Carlton Abama property. Park at the visitor parking area (approximately fifty spaces), then descend the marked path followed by a staircase of about 240 steps (20 minutes of walking total). The beach has 3 showers, a drinking water tap, and a first aid station with lifeguards. Sun loungers are reserved for hotel guests, but the bar is open to everyone (expect 6 to 12 € per drink). A car is essential, with no direct public transport.
