Playa del Socorro belongs to the category of beaches you visit for their character as well as for swimming when the current isn't too strong and bathing is permitted. The black volcanic sand and its often powerful waves roll in from the Atlantic. It's a recognized surf spot on the island, where locals come to train, taking advantage of consistent swells and a sandy bottom without reefs. On the other hand, the sunset here creates a striking contrast between golden light, black waves and ochre cliffs. Free parking on site, no other services. A thirty-minute stop is enough for photographers, surfers stay for hours.
