Tenerife offers hiking trails accessible even to those who have never put on hiking boots. These five itineraries require only good sports shoes, water, and a little preparation.
1. Barranco del Infierno (Adeje) — the unmissable classic
Mandatory reservation on barrancodelinfierno.es (quota of 300 people/day). The trail is approximately 6.5 km round trip, 3 to 4 hours, with moderate elevation gain of about 400 m.

- Parking : at the start in Adeje (paid, approximately 2 €)
- Entry : approximately 15 € per person
- Destination : hidden waterfall in the gorge
- Best period : spring or autumn
2. Masca — spectacular descent with boat return
Approximately 3 to 3.5 hours of descent, elevation loss 600-700 m. Shoes with good grip are essential — the descent is steep in places.

- Parking : at the village of Masca (limited spaces — arrive early)
- Return : boat from the beach to Los Gigantes (check schedules in advance, approximately 15 €)
- Note : part of the trail was closed in 2025 for maintenance — check conditions before setting out
3. La Caleta-El Puertito coastal trail — almost flat, ocean views
Ideal as a first hike, this trail in the south runs along the coast with little elevation gain.
- Distance : 4 to 7 km depending on the section
- Duration : 1 h 30 to 3 hours
- Difficulty : 1/5
- Parking : at La Caleta (free on weekdays)
- Best time : early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat
4. Anaga from Las Carboneras — laurisilva forest
Several short loops cross the laurisilva forest (primary forest listed by UNESCO). Shaded and cool, ideal even in summer.
- Distance : 2 to 4 km depending on the circuit chosen
- Duration : 1 to 2 hours
- Difficulty : 2/5
- Parking : at the village of Las Carboneras (free)
- Highlight : mystical atmosphere, clouds often clinging to the ridges
5. Roques de García (Teide) — the easiest with the most beautiful views
An easy loop at the foot of Teide, with no permit or cable car needed.

- Duration : 45 minutes to 1 hour
- Difficulty : 1/5
- Parking : free at the Roques de García site
- Important : bring a jacket — it can be cool at altitude even in summer. Sunscreen is essential, UV radiation is strong at 2,200 m.

- 1.5 liters of water per person minimum (often no water sources on the trails)
- Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
- Hiking shoes or sneakers with textured soles
- Energy snack and light jacket (wind possible at Teide)
- Charged phone with offline maps app (Komoot or Maps.me)
