Playa de San Telmo is a small natural pool in the historic centre of Puerto de la Cruz, right next to the chapel of the same name. Lava flows form pools that fill and empty with the tide, over a bed of black sand and rounded pebbles (picón). The site holds the Blue Flag label. Barely 20 metres long and wide, it is surrounded by bars and restaurants and is a few minutes' walk from Plaza del Charco. Swimming conditions depend entirely on the day's tide and sea state.
